Position Objective
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for accessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans to facilitate optimal patient care. The position must support the mission, goals, policies and standards of the nursing department to ensure excellence in nursing practice. The position must participate in professional growth and self-development activities to ensure accountability for own professional nursing practice, promote an environment that encourages individual growth and nurtures professional practice, and utilize experience and educational skills to assume an active role in orienting/teaching of staff.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conform with and provide nursing care according to the providers orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards and State/Federal regulations
- Monitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, act on changes to insure patient comfort and safety
- Perform routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times
- Consult and coordinate with providers and other healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans
- Administer medications and treatments
- Act as a liaison between team and medical staff, nursing, etc.
- Advise patients on health maintenance and preventative medicine
- Facilitate teaching experiences for staff and individuals
- Check and maintain nursing supplies inventory
- Cross-train to other departments in order to meet patients, hospital, and community needs
- Orient and train to charge nurse
Other Responsibilities
- Perform all other related duties as assigned in a professional and responsive manner
- Demonstrate the ability to use relevant equipment
- Support, understand, and promote Alomere Health’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures
- Ability to meet the work schedule requirements with flexibility dependent upon the needs of the department

- Complete required education timely and within the set deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of one of the following approved professional nursing schools: Two-year Associates Degree Program; three-year Diploma Program; or four-year BSN Program
- Active and current registration/licensure in the state of Minnesota
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Stroke Training Courses- Soonest Available opportunity or within one year of hire for any nurse caring for a Stroke Patient
- Must have labor experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Two years of experience working as a registered nurse
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to maintain accurate, detailed reports and records
Supervisory Responsibilities
- When serving as a Charge Nurse, the nurse coordinates and directs unit operations so that patient/family needs are met and staff is efficiently utilized
- The Charge Nurse is responsible for the assignment of nursing personnel to patient care and other responsibilities consistent with patient needs and staff competence
- The Registered Nurse provides supervision of patient care provided by the LPN and/or Patient Care Assistants
