Georgian College is currently seeking  a Registered Occupational Therapist to work as an Independent Contractor The incumbent will work within a clinical setting (LTC, hospital and/or Georgian College’s paediatric clinic). The Independent Contractor will act as the primary care provider for patient care providing occupational therapy services as appropriate and is responsible for conducting assessments, formulating goals and recommendations, planning and implementing patient centred, goal-directed treatment programs through the use of student Occupational Therapist Assistants.  The Independent Contractor will be familiar working in a team environment and delegating treatment to both an Occupational Therapist Assistant and Student Occupational Therapist Assistants. The Occupational Therapist is to provide guidance and support to the students in the development of OTA competencies.  
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Creates and advises on OT treatment plans for assignment to Occupational Therapist Assistants (OTA) and OTA students based on current case load within a clinical setting
In accordance with the standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), Occupational Therapists providing services to community members are the health care custodians of clinical documentation; retaining all records according to COTO requirements
Selects appropriate clients for OT services which will support OTA student clinical learning outcomes
Acts as primary care provider for patient care providing occupational therapy services as appropriate (obtaining patient consent, assessing and developing treatment plans, providing oversight and adherence to safe/ethical patient practices).  
Enforces clinical placement expectations within scope of practice
Maintains an effective and harmonious relationship with members of the health care team on site, the students, clients and their families, medical staff and college staff.
Provides orientation for students to the clinical placement site and respective Policies & Procedures
Assists in the development of OTA clinical skills and competencies, through the provision of regular feedback and remediation of skills as appropriate, to students
Attends onboarding, midterm and final placement meetings 
Endorses “successful completion” of fieldwork placement which includes a minimum of 150 clinical hours for each student
Qualifications:
Registered Occupational Therapist 
Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario 
Recent clinical experience in a health setting, preferably with a geriatric or paediatric population
Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity
Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite 
Proven ability to work in a team environment 
Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Experience teaching students in a clinical setting would be an asset
The successful candidate will be required to submit proof of Professional Liability Insurance and Registration of good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.  A vulnerable sector police check and proof of immunization for COVID-19 are also required.
