About the role
Perform the general duties of of a Tool & Die Maker Apprentice, to include attending any required schooling and taking direction from your assigned mentor for tool maker type tasks. Meet all New York State requirements of the Apprentice program.
Compensation: $23.00-$27.00
What you will be doing
- Perform diligently and faithfully the work of the Tool and Die Maker in conformity with the terms and conditions set forth in the training program and agreement.
- Attend classes of related instruction as specified each year of his/her term of apprenticeship.
- Purchase and maintain the necessary personal tools to perform any assigned project.
- Work with a senior Toolmaker and follow their instructions.
- Fulfill hours required by New York State guidelines for each discipline of toolmaking.
- Set up and operator conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
About you
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Basic P.C. Knowledge in order to either input or gain business or technical data ie; CAD/CAM / MRP / Microsoft Office softwares
- Good Mechanical Ability
- Knowledge of metric system, shop trigonometry, and geometry
- Able to interact with other Departments at all skill levels
- Basic understanding of machining practices and principles
- Safety and quality conscious
- Able to lift up to 33lbs
