Responsibilities

As a full time clinician, provides genetic counseling, supportive and follow-up services to patients and family members at high risk for genetic and/or exposure related conditions with oversight by the MD Clinical Geneticist in the Genetic Center. Mentors new genetic counselors, genetic counseling students, and other clinical staff. Collaborates with outside agencies and physicians to ensure operational effectiveness, market development and high-quality patient interactions. Collaborates and assists with the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, practices and systems to support and enhance the quality of services provided. 

Qualifications

Education

• Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling required
• Credentialed by the CHS Medical Staff Office as an Allied Health Professional and privileged to perform genetic counseling services required
• Graduate of an accredited Genetic Counseling program approved by the American Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) required

 Licenses and Certifications

• One of the following options is required
• Option 1
• LGC - California Licensed Genetic Counselor and
• ABGC - American Board Genetic Counseling
• Option 2
• LTGC - California Licensed Temporary Genetic Counselor and
• ABGC - American Board Genetic Counseling within 1 year of hire or transfer into position
