Job Summary
Position is responsible for maintaining System Accounting activities including: general ledger month-end close, complex account analysis, and reconciliations, including sub-system reconciliations. Recommends changes in accounting systems and procedures.Job Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Two (2) to four (4) years of accounting work experience
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and financial accounting knowledge
Effective oral and written communication skills.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare and upload journal entries to the general ledger, including the consolidation of business units and corresponding eliminating entries, to prepare system financials. Ensures the accuracy of the recorded transactions.
Reconciles general ledger accounts with various monthly statements (bank statements, sub-system ledgers), makes adjustments as necessary, and reports material variances to management.
Prepares schedules for financial reporting to internal and external sources, to include auditor requests. Compiles financial data to aid higher level accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
Collects financial data and analyzes expenses, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Prepares financial reports that aid management in determining the proper accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.
Ensures compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines.
Assists with moderately complex accounting projects as assigned by management. Documents, identifies, and provides recommendations for process improvements and controls.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization. Serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
Adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
