Child Watch Aide

Your Role as a Child Watch Aide
Do you enjoy working with children and creating a fun, safe environment? This could be the perfect role for you!
We’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable individuals who are passionate about working with kids. As a Child Watch Aide, you’ll provide care and supervision for youth members ages 6 weeks to 7 years while their parents participate in classes or use the facility. You’ll play an important part in creating a welcoming space where children can learn, play, and grow.
Position Details:
- This is a part-time position with the option to work one to three shifts per week.
- We are currently seeking applicants with morning availability Monday - Saturday 8am - 11am.
Pay
$13.50 - $15.50 per hour
Essential Functions:
- Provide Safe, Engaging Care: Supervise children attentively, maintain required staff-to-child ratios, and create a nurturing environment that encourages exploration, play, and positive behavior.
- Support Daily Operations: Assist with day-to-day tasks, uphold YMCA policies and state regulations, and ensure toys and equipment are safe and well-maintained.
- Build Positive Relationships: Greet and engage with children, parents, and staff in a friendly, professional manner; maintain open communication and attend meetings and events as needed.
- Demonstrate Leadership & Teamwork: Promote a team-oriented atmosphere, model positive behavior, and support discipline and incident management with appropriate guidance techniques.
- Uphold YMCA Values & Policies: Follow child protection guidelines, act in accordance with the YMCA mission and values, make sound decisions, and maintain professional standards, including dress code and phone use.
- Required certifications (within 60 days): CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood Borne Pathogens
- Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting, Abusive Head Trauma, and SUID completion within 90 days
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Must possess and demonstrate the ability to engage in all activities associated with the daily care, activities, and routines of program’s children, including but not limited to: interacting with children at floor level, physical education activities such as running, jumping, etc., lifting children and equipment, and participating in outdoor activities.
- Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
- Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program-related, and supervisory responsibilities of a Child Watch program.
