DESCRIPTION:
The Network Security Engineer (NSE) supports the wired and wireless network environment and maintains security controls that help mitigate risks to the institution’s information assets and systems. The NSE is primarily responsible for administering networking and security technologies as well as monitoring the network and key information systems for evidence of intrusion.

Position Duties
- Work with LTS staff members to identify and address problems relating to the campus network 20%
- Provide support for the network access control system 10%
- Configure, monitor, and maintain the wireless network system 20%
- Configure, monitor, and maintain the wired network system 10%
- Administer network security-related technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and monitoring systems. 15%
- Monitor the network and key information technology resources for evidence of suspicious activity. 15%
- Identify and mitigate institutional information security vulnerabilities. Perform vulnerability scans. Review and interpret results. 10%
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in a computer-related field required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e., Computer Science, Engineering, MIS) preferred
- Two to four years of experience supporting networking and telecommunications infrastructures including wired and wireless networks
- Two to four years of experience with mobile devices and operating systems, including Unix/Linux, Windows and macOS
- One to three years of experience with administering information security-related technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and monitoring systems, such as Splunk or Elastic Stack.
- One to three years of experience administering network access control systems, such as Aruba ClearPass, FortiNAC, or Cisco ISE
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of operating systems, network/connectivity principles, file server technologies and computing environments
- Strong understanding of security principles as they apply to deploying and maintaining business-critical network infrastructure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
