Hybrid Senior Platform Engineer bei ClearBank

About you

You’ll be joining the Team Ocelot in the Infrastructure Cluster as an Engineer. Reporting to an Engineering Manager, you’ll be a part of a fast-growing business that is challenging the market and doing things differently.

You’ll be a playing a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the foundations of our infrastructure platform. Your excited to work with Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and GitOps as you help empower our teams to rapidly deploy and manage their own infrastructure resources and take control of the software delivery lifecycle. You’ll have a proactive approach to collaboration, understanding that we’re stronger as a team than as individuals, contributing to a culture of self-service and continuous improvement. A major part of this role involves working closely with Technical Product Owners and Engineering Managers to shape the art of the possible as we build out our next generation internal platform.

You will be

• Designing and implementing a self-service platform, developing a robust and scalable self-service platform using methods like Chaos Engineering

• Define and template Kubernetes resources such as pods, services, deployments, and ingress controllers to ensure our platform is resilient, scalable and secure.

• Establishing GitOps practices for managing infrastructure and application lifecycles.

• Taking part in the exploration and adoption of new technologies and practices

• Maintaining an eye for continuous improvement, taking part in retrospectives, planning and stand ups

• Included on the on-call support rota

What we are looking for

• Hands on knowledge of the Clearbank platform technology stack: Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Azure DevOps Yaml pipeline and templates, Docker

• Experience in deploying and operating Kubernetes clusters in production environments at scale.

• Experience in debugging errors within Kubernetes clusters in incident scenarios.

• Working knowledge of the wider cloud native ecosystem and open-source tooling for Kubernetes.

• Proven experience in a Platform environment working with a product first mindset

• Proactive approach to problem, incident and risk management

• Excellent communication skills

• Experience with microservices architecture, event-driven architecture and related patterns in a Kubernetes context

Desirable skills and experience, nice to have but not essential

• Software development experience: C# (.Net), Golang

• Hands on experience working with GitOps methodologies and tooling

• Experience working in financial services

Our hiring process and what you can expect:

Application: a member of our talent acquisition team will review your application against the key requirements for the role and let you know within two weeks whether you’re moving forward to the next stage; 

Screening: You’ll spend 30-45 minutes speaking to one of our recruiters learning more about the role and ClearBank, and we’ll get it know more about you, your experience and how your skills align with the role (this will be via phone or Teams video call). You can expect to hear back from us within seven days following this meeting (if things are taking longer than expected, we’ll let you know that too); 

First Interview: You’ll spend one hour with a member of our hiring team focusing on your skills, competencies and your ways of working at the same time we’ll give you time to ask more questions about the role, the team and learn more about the ClearBank culture. This will be via Teams.  

Second Interview: This will be a competency-based interview with one or more members of our team.

Final Stage: You will have a final meeting with the Head of Department. This will be around 45-60 minutes.
