About the Department

The mission of Health Services is to provide cost effective, convenient, high quality and professional health care to eligible Northwestern State University students in a clinic setting addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Health Services will enhance student development through campus wide and individual health education focusing on student learning in the areas of lifestyle choices and independence as a healthcare consumer.
Position Duties
Two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health.

Other Qualifications
Job Duties:
- Provide nursing care, health screenings, and limited point of care testing to approximately 500 nursing and allied health students in a collegiate clinic on an as needed basis.
- Maintain health records for approximately 1,000 nursing and allied health students using an electronic database system.
- Communicate relevant health information to undergraduate and graduate nursing and allied health students, health agencies, program directors, Health Services staff, and off-site physician in an efficient, professional manner.
- Provide educational sessions on relevant health topics to nursing and allied health students.
- Create or Maintain clinic policies and procedures, standing physician's orders, purchasing orders for supplies and medications, and CLIA waivers for point of care testing.
- Must be able to work independently with oversight from on-site supervisor and off-site physician.

- Appointment type: Full-time, 12-months
- Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 0800-1630
- Work location: Shreveport, LA with occasional day-time travel required to Natchitoches and Alexandria.
