OVERVIEW
Cadrex is searching for a Welder III to use Manual Welding and Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) skills to manufacture weldments to defined specifications, workmanship standards and production schedule. Additionally, you will assist in training and mentoring junior welders, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the welding department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and set up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs
- Arrange parts for welding and staging processes
- Perform quality inspection/checks per quality documentation/control plan (including documentation of results)
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Lead
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence.
- Uphold site efficiency standards
- Learn and demonstrate continuous improvement for Safety and Quality standards and procedures
- Understand welding symbols, print tolerances and quality measuring equipment
- Work completely independently without supervision
- Trouble shoot and resolve issues in assigned work center
- Produce quality work at company standard efficiency level for assigned work center
- Cross trained in multiple workstations
- Assist in training and mentoring junior welders, providing guidance on welding techniques, safety procedures, and best practices
- The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of welding processes and completed welds in accordance with industry standards, codes, and regulations
- This role involves performing inspections, audits, and testing to maintain the highest quality standards in our manufacturing or fabrication processes
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds on various projects and components
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) through AWS or equivalent certification
- Proven experience in welding inspection, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or fabrication environments
- 5+ years in a metal manufacturing setting preferred
- AWS certifications for MIG welding steel and aluminum
- Strong understanding of welding symbols, print tolerances and quality measuring equipment
- Meet or exceed company PPM level standards by consistently producing quality work
- Obtain and maintain weld certifications in two or more welding processes specific to employee’s location
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to read and interpret prints and work orders
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
