Timmons Group is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant to join our Richmond, VA office location. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the accounting group. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working collaboratively, and is eager to learn accounting-specific processes. The position is primarily in-office, in our Richmond headquarters. This position has the potential for cross training and growth within the accounting department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Administrative Support
- Coordinate meetings, team events, and calendar scheduling
- Manage incoming communications, including emails and phone calls, and ensure timely follow-up
- Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical)
- Prepare internal documents and reports as needed
- Accounting Team Support
- Assist with invoice processing, expense tracking, and data entry
- Support reconciliation tasks and document preparation for audits
- Help maintain financial records and assist with month-end close activities
- Learn and apply accounting software tools and internal systems
- Provide backup support for accounting team members during peak periods
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Associates or Bachelors degree preferred, with a concentration in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Economics.
- Previous experience in accounting, administrative or office support role preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Willingness to learn accounting processes and tools
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
