Job title: Registered Dietitian
Schedule: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period; Monday-Friday, scheduled between 8:00am and 4:30pm
Weekend rotation: No weekends
Holiday rotation: No holidays
Position Summary:
The Registered Dietitian position provides assessment and medical nutrition therapy to hospital patients and residents in order for those we serve to maintain or improve nutrition and hydration status for overall health.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide assessments and medical nutrition therapy to hospital patients and nursing home residents.
- Work with inpatient setting interdisciplinary team and meet with patients and families to provide nutrition education and counseling in the pending evaluation of labs, weights, fluid, nutritional status, malnutrition, etc.
- Actively participate in nutrition risk program, diabetes committee, and care-planning committee at Fair View & Crest View.
- Provide nutritional assessment & education to outpatient clientele.
- Teach heart healthy nutrition classes in the Cardiac Rehab department; meet with cardiac rehab patients regarding nutrition goals; provide nutrition counseling and education.
- Meet with dialysis patients at both clinics (~35 patients) 2-3x/month and review labs and provide nutrition counseling and education; track phosphate binder medication adherence in coordination with diet and suggest changes as needed to nephrologist/NP. Calculate average ultrafiltration rate monthly and make treatment duration recommendations relating to fluid management. Communicate with IDT (nephrologist, NP, dialysis staff, director of dialysis, and social worker) minimum monthly. Participate in monthly quality meeting and report on nutrition-related regulatory measures (i.e., serum albumin, phosphorus, fluid).
- Maintain the requirements for dietetic registration.
- Precept dietetic interns.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in the field of dietetics with completion of ACEND accredited supervised practice program required.
- Completion of CDR national exam required and must maintain CDR certification.
- Must hold and maintain Wisconsin Certified Dietitian License.
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
- 1 year or less of related work experience required.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Intermediate proficiency with computers is required, including Office applications and EMRs.
- Ability to assess lab values.
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
