POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) provides leadership and day-to-day management of clinical operations of entities of Arkansas Hospice (AH) and assigned ancillary departments. The CCO ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and accreditation standards, and the provision of high-quality services in a safe, effective, and efficient manner to meet the needs of patients, families and communities served. The CCO serves as a member of the senior leadership team, and acts in collaboration with and under the authority of the Chief Executive Officer, within the policies of the Board of Directors, and in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Arkansas Hospice, Inc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree (MSN) preferred.
Licensure: Current licensure as Registered Nurse (RN) in Arkansas.
Experience: A minimum of seven years supervisory experience in a hospice and/or palliative care, home health agency, or other related work environment.
Additional Requirements: Valid Arkansas driver’s license, automobile insurance, and personal vehicle. Must be able to work flexible hours; travel within Arkansas is required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with the CEO and leadership team, oversees assigned clinical operations of all Arkansas Hospice entities to ensure the provision of superior care and service in an efficient and effective manner.
- Promotes a culture of ownership and commitment to the mission, vision and values of the organization, and leads employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
- Oversees the Day-to-Day Managers for each Medicare Certified Program under the direction of the Administrator.
- Participates in development of goals and strategic plans for the organization.
- Participates in new program development and implementation.
- Hires, leads, mentors and develops a strong clinical operations management team that works together to accomplish the goals of the organization and its clinical entities.
- In collaboration with the CEO and leadership team, leads in the development and accomplishment of comprehensive goals for quality, satisfaction, census and financial performance for all clinical entities.
- Leads, provides oversight, and/or actively participates in performance improvement initiatives and ongoing monitoring for all its clinical entities. .
- Drives initiatives to achieve superior HOPE and CAHPS scores at all locations.
- In collaboration with the CEO and the leadership team, participates in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the annual budget and strategic plan.
- In collaboration with the leadership team, develops and implements policies and procedures that establish clear expectations and promote quality patient care, staff and patient safety, and efficient and effective program operations.
- Supervises ancillary departments to include: Bereavement, Volunteers, Education and Quality.
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and applicable regulatory, licensing, certification, and accreditation requirements for all clinical entities.
- Takes lead on the Standards Committee in preparation for meetings by organizing the agenda and ensuring all materials and presenters are prepped for the meeting.
- In collaboration with the CEO, COO and CFO, participates in the contracting process for direct patient care services, including nursing home, hospital, and ancillary services. Maintains oversight of contracted patient care services to ensure coordination with other care providers, quality of care, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Promotes positive employee relations through open communication, fair treatment, and consistent application of policies.
- In collaboration with Regional Directors, works with the local leadership to enhance care and services and improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Promotes Arkansas Hospice mission and values to staff and the community; represents Arkansas Hospice to the community as requested.
- Pursues growth and development opportunities in leadership, management education, professional, and area networking associations.
- Shares administrative call.
- Completes performance evaluations for all assigned staff in a timely manner.
- Develops budget and manages expenses within established limits.
- In collaboration with the CEO and leadership team, analyzes, recommends, and implements practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness, including work redesign, changes in systems and processes, policies and procedures, quality measures and performance improvement.
- Manages FTEs within established guidelines including controlling agency and overtime expenses.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information.
- Utilizes and models excellent customer service skills at all times; seeks opportunities to assist patients, families and co-workers; demonstrates teamwork and cooperation.
- Accepts direction and follows instructions from supervisor; seeks additional information as needed; works with minimal supervision.
