We are searching for a Registered Nurse (RN) Central Line Team - to perform all tasks specializing in the care and maintenance of central venous catheters (CVCs) in children. This role will be responsible to insert, manage, and educate patients and families about CVCs, which are used to administer medications, fluids, and nutrition, as well as draw blood. The nurse will play a crucial role in preventing complications associated with CVCs, such as infections, and ensuring the device functions properly.  Apply today to learn how to become part of our team!

  • Ok with weekday schedule (Monday – Friday, 10am – 6pm) 
  • Interest and/or experience working with central lines
  • Ok with an administrative component to role 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification
  • 1 year of professional nursing experience  (2yrs preferred)
  • The ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills, good time and resource management skills, flexibility, strong oral and written communication skills, knowledge of central line care and IV insertion, and knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Assist with central line auditing
  • Ensure patient bathing is occurring regularly 
  • Ensure all details needed are included in patient charts
  • Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patient’s condition; communicates this information and documents in the medical record
  • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and documents in the medical record
  • Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriate
  • Assess patient family learning needs capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn prior to teaching
  • Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members
  • Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance
  • Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives
