About Scottsdale Bible Church (SBC)

SBC’s main campus is in beautiful Scottsdale Arizona. Scottsdale is annually rated among the nation’s most desirable communities in which to live, visit, and conduct business. God has faithfully grown SBC from a humble beginning of 13 people in 1962 to more than 6500 meeting weekly on four campuses.   With plans to start other multi-site campuses in the coming years, we continue to press forward to take the message of Jesus into our communities throughout the Valley!

As the YTH Pastor for Junior High, you are a vital part of the Team, responsible for carrying on the Vision, Mission and Values of SBC. In this role, you will report to the Central Associate NextGen Pastor and are responsible for providing pastoral oversight to the Shea YTH Ministry, overseeing all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of students from 6th through 8th grade. 

Your Essential Responsibilities:

In this position, you will:

Cast Vision

  • Cast vision of YTH to students grades 6-8, volunteer leaders and parents
  • Share the vision of YTH and represent it to the entire church
  • Continually keep the vision present by projecting it, living it, repeating it and praising it on a regular basis

Build Teams

  • Provide leadership and care for the YTH volunteer team
  • Work closely with and coordinate with the Shea YTH High School Pastor
  • Direct the recruitment, training, and development of leads and volunteers as needed to staff weekly programs and special events
  • Implement and oversee all applicable safety and security measures and ensure compliance and training 
  • Be available to train Ministers in Residence (MIRs) and Interns for the work of the ministry
  • Responsible for the ongoing recruitment, training and appreciation of volunteers for the ministry
  • Commitment to developing volunteers who move through the PEO process – Participation, Engagement, and Ownership
  • Maintains updated serving teams of all your volunteers in ROCK

Execute Ministry

  • Teach and preach to students the Truth of God’s Word through culturally relevant and high-energy services including the weekly student-driven worship
  • Write small group curriculum to compliment teaching topics and train leaders on content and delivery of curriculum
  • Educate, encourage, and facilitate students to participate in evangelical outreach locally with peers, the community and worldwide through special events and mission trips
  • Assist in the planning of retreats or camps for students
  • Assist in the creation of the YTH event calendar that will drive all the activities and teaching of the ministry and align with the church’s calendar and programs
  • Design, plan, and conduct periodic student parent meetings to engage and update families of students attending SBC
  • Be an active presence in local schools and work with students to reach people on their campuses
  • Counsel students, volunteers and parents and equip leaders to provide counsel

Education and/or experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • If desiring a Pastor/Minister title, a Master's degree (or working toward) from an accredited seminary or equivalent (MA, MDiv, ThM) preferred*
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar ministry role preferred

*While not immediately required, this position may require successful completion of seminary education as part of the ongoing training process and/or requirement for continued employment.

This position requires in-office work and does not qualify for a remote arrangement.

Church Membership is required for most paid positions.

SBC does not participate in COBRA or Unemployment Insurance.
