About the Department

This position offers a flexible weekday schedule, typically between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends required for trainings or special events.

Under the direction of the S.T.A.R.S. Coordinator and in collaboration with Site Supervisors, the Senior Program Aide supports the daily operations of the City of Yucaipa’s S.T.A.R.S. Expanded Learning Program. This position plays a critical role in maintaining program consistency, ensuring adequate staffing across sites, organizing program materials, and providing clerical support. The Senior Program Aide also serves as a key point of contact for families, school personnel, and City staff, offering exceptional customer service and promoting a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for all program participants.

This position offers a flexible weekday schedule, typically between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends required for trainings or special events. 

Employees in this position average 23 hours per week during the academic year, with a maximum of 950 hours.

Position Duties

The typical duties of this position include:
  • Monitoring and recording staff attendance across multiple elementary and middle school sites;
  • Coordinating daily staffing schedules;
  • Creating a welcoming and professional presence across sites while supporting staff and program consistency;
  • Offering excellent customer service to families, school personnel, and the program team;
  • Organizing and preparing lesson materials, activity supplies, and event resources;
  • Maintaining and restocking inventory across sites; reporting low supplies to program leadership;
  • Creating and distributing a monthly program bulletin with key updates, events, and highlights;
  • Performing clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and document organization;
  • Supporting professional development and program trainings with logistical assistance;
  • Communicating regularly with the STARS administrative team to share updates, concerns, and site needs;
  • Participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience working in an office setting supporting administrative or customer service tasks 
  • Ability to work flexible hours including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends or holidays.
  • Must be willing to work at least one (1) City Festival annually.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and commitment to teamwork.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent. 
    • College level training is desirable.
    • Incumbent employees are expected to avail themselves of staff development as provided by the City.
  • Prior paid job-related experience successfully working with students in a learning situation is highly desirable.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must successfully clear the City's background process, which includes DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting, reference checks, drug and alcohol screening, TB test, and assessment (reading comprehension, math fluency, and supervision testing). 
  • Must attend paid trainings, which include First-Aid/CPR/AED certification, Mandated Reporter Training, and other trainings as required by the City.
WORKING CONDITIONS:  
Performance of assigned duties and responsibilities may include prolonged standing, sitting, walking on level or unleveled surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. Incumbents may be required to lift, carry and/or push objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
