SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process general accounting transactions and activities including, but not limited to: prepaids, inventory, AP & utility accruals, etc.
  • Review and analyze large amounts of data utilizing excel skills and pivot tables 
  • Maintain and reconcile bank accounts
  • Partner with Finance to reconcile and research inventory
  • Review P&L and prepare accruals at month-end
  • Complete tasks timely with minimal guidance
  • Performs account analysis and reconciliation at month-end
  • Execute functions that assist in maintaining a timely close
  • Participate in year-end audit


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for timely and accurate documentation and reconciliation of fixed assets, capital spend tracking, prepaids and credit cards
  • Document and process accounting transactions in accordance with Company policies and procedures to support an accurate and timely month-end close process, including journal entry preparation.
  • Participate in year-end audit, completing requests on a timely basis as needed.
  • Provides support to other teams to help improve business processes and systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of ad-hoc analysis and financial reporting to management, as requested.
  • Work to review current processes and recommend/develop improvements to support the business.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities, as needed.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 2+ years’ experience in an Accountant role
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Prior work experience with a company that is multi-location and preferably retail
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills with a background in accounting and finance principles
  • Good communication skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills required


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting; CPA or CPA-track a plus


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards
  • Microsoft Dynamics (D365) accounting system and IBM Planning Analytics reporting software knowledge, plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, XLOOKUP & VLOOKUP formulas
  • Ability to:
    • Handle and prioritize multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to think outside the box
    • Approach problems using critical thinking and consider next steps
    • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills in a dynamically changing environment
    • Works collaboratively with others in and outside the accounting department to accomplish goals
    • Evaluate and improve financial processes and accelerate the monthly closing

    • Enhance quality of accounting transactions and management reporting

    • Highly detail oriented and organized


WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional overtime required throughout the year, especially at month end and peak seasons.
