Heavy Equipment Operator -CDL Preferred

S.C. Swiderski (SCS), a respected Wisconsin-based construction company, is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators for site work on multi-family apartments and residential homes. - Equipment Operation & Site Work (70%) Operate excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, skid steers, and other heavy machinery to dig, backfill, grade, and prepare job sites. Includes GPS/Trimble use, snow removal, and foundation work. Perform supporting labor tasks such as shooting grade, uncovering utilities, trenching, compacting, and assisting crew members with physical site tasks.
- Transportation & Equipment (20%) Care Load, haul, and unload equipment and materials; perform routine maintenance, inspections, and report issues; keep equipment and job site clean and safe.
- Communication, Travel & Documentation (10%) Coordinate with the Excavation Foreman, expense management, interpret blueprints/site plans, follow schedules, travel to job sites (including occasional overnights), and complete required paperwork.
What You Bring:
- At least 1–2 years’ excavation experience
- Experience with dozers, excavators, and GPS systems preferred
- CDL preferred (or willingness to get one)
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and ready to work outdoors year-round

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver's license with clean record (CDL preferred)
- Experience with dump trucks, excavators, loaders, backhoes, dozers, skid steers, forklifts
- Strong understanding of plans, specs, and blueprints
- Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of construction process, troubleshooting, teamwork
Preferred:
- OSHA/Excavation Competent Person
- CPR/First Aid,
- GPS/Trimble,
- sewer/water experience,
Physical Requirements Must tolerate working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions. Capable of lifting/moving 75-100 lbs., bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, reaching, and working in trenches or confined spaces. Special Requirements Must be available for regular in-state travel, work 45-50 hours per week (Monday-Friday), with occasional overtime or overnight stays depending on job site location.
Work Environment This role works outdoors on active construction sites, exposed to dust, noise, uneven terrain, and various weather conditions. Heavy equipment and power tool use is routine.
