What you'll do
• Design and implement the settlement processing workflow for daily acquiring transactions,
including interchange, chargebacks, and fees.
• Coordinate with card networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.), processors, and core banking teams to
establish proper fund flows and settlement timelines.
• Develop settlement file specifications, data ingestion, and reconciliation logic from multiple
sources (acquirer, network, processor, bank ledger).
• Oversee daily reconciliation of acquiring funds (gross and net), ensuring accurate crediting to
merchant accounts.
• Investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies in coordination with internal teams
and third-party processors.
• Monitor exception reports, unapplied entries, and aging items with appropriate escalation and
resolution tracking.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment of acquiring transactions in coordination with Finance and
Accounting.
• Own operational metrics related to settlement accuracy, timing, and reconciliation
exceptions.
• Support internal and external audits related to settlement and reconciliation controls.
• Act as the primary operational liaison with acquiring processors, network partners, and product
teams.
• Contribute to the roadmap for system automation, process scalability, and enhanced reporting
capabilities.
• Train and develop team members as the settlement volume and complexity increases.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in payments, card acquiring, treasury operations, or financial
reconciliation.
• Deep understanding of merchant acquiring flows, settlement cycles, and interchange structures
(Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.).
• Strong analytical and data skills; proficient in Excel, SQL, and reconciliation tools.
• Experience working with payment processors, core banking systems, or financial operations
platforms.
• Proven ability to work independently and build new processes from the ground up.
• Prior experience at a bank, fintech, processor, or acquirer launching a new payments
product.
• Familiarity with NACHA, ISO 8583, and settlement file formats.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements in transaction processing (e.g., Reg E, GLBA,
etc.).
