Your role as a Eligibility Specialist
As a Full-Time Eligibility Specialist at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a crucial role in assessing client eligibility for government-sponsored insurance benefits and services. Your primary responsibility will entail guiding clients through the application process while accurately preparing necessary benefit applications. With your extensive knowledge of the behavioral health care system and understanding of state and federal regulations, you will effectively evaluate clients' needs and help them select programs that align with those needs. Furthermore, you'll interview clients, assist with applications for Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid programs, TANF, SNAP, and Energy Assistance, while ensuring all paperwork is meticulously completed. The position requires a keen attention to detail, thorough follow-through, and the ability to explain complex benefits systems to clients, particularly those with unique circumstances affecting their eligibility for various benefits.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Two (2) years' experience in the determination and administration of governmental health insurance programs and related health services or in state and federal benefits programs.
- Bachelor's degree a plus.
