Under direct supervision, responsible for providing office support in a clinical office to ensure patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Performs all front office duties, checking in patients, ensuring completion of all necessary forms for registration, collecting copays, assisting patients when needed, and answering phones.
- Creates and verifies full patient registration upon patient arrival.
- Communicates with Benefit Coordinators if new insurance is obtained.
- Communicates with providers as needed regarding patient’s arrival, needs or requests.
- Prepares charts, obtains medical record requests and makes phone calls to request medical records from outside providers.
- Creates new and follow up appointments as needed for patients and obtains referrals and authorization for visits and testing when necessary.
- Schedules patient appointments and follows up on missed appointments by telephone or mail.
- Monitors the flow of patients, including placing patients into rooms as needed and keeping patients and families informed of waiting times.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Demonstrates analytical thinking – this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates creativity and alternative thinking; able to develop new ideas supportive of the UT Health Way.
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office and database programs.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of related experience is required
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required
Company
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
