General Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our interdisciplinary team in a school-like setting serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental needs. The RN will play a key role in supporting student health, safety, and well-being through direct care, medical oversight, and collaboration with staff and families.

Work Environment:

  • School-like environment with students requiring varying levels of medical and behavioral support.
  • Frequent collaboration with educators, therapists, medical professionals, and family members.
  • May involve physical activity including lifting, positioning students, or responding to medical emergencies.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado.
  • Current CPR certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers preferred).
  • Experience working with children, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder or developmental disabilities, is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with G-tube care, seizure protocols, QMAP, and life-threatening allergy response.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory compliance, workers’ compensation procedures, and medication management best practices.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergencies.
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting diverse learners in a collaborative team setting.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum.
  • Experience training and supervising QMAP staff.

Performance Expectations:

Daily:

  • Deliver nursing care to students with diverse medical needs in a specialized educational environment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, school policy, and state health regulations.
  • Perform daily body checks, monitor for signs of illness or injury, and respond appropriately.
  • Oversee and support QMAP staff in performing daily body checks, ensuring proper documentation and timely communication of concerns.
  • Administer medications and medical treatments per physician orders and QMAP (Qualified Medication Administration Personnel) standards.
  • Provide care for students with G-tubes, seizure disorders, life-threatening allergies, and other complex medical conditions.
  • Follow and implement individualized Seizure Action Plans, Allergy Emergency Plans, and related health protocols.
  • Deliver prompt emergency care, including performing CPR and first aid.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support student success and safety.
  • Supervise and oversee QMAP personnel.

Weekly:

  • Ensure adherence to standard precautions, infection control, and universal safety protocols.
  • Collaborate regularly with schools, medical providers, and families to coordinate care and share critical health information.
  • Participate in workers’ compensation procedures, including evaluating and documenting staff injuries, completing required reports, and communicating with administrative personnel.
  • Conduct routine checks of medication cabinets, refrigerators (for temperature logs), and emergency medical supplies to ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized and compliant health office/clinic area that meets all safety and regulatory guidelines.

Monthly:

  • Participate in IEP meetings and care planning when necessary to support student health goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and contribute to keeping the organization in full compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on medical procedures, emergency response, and health protocols.
  • Monitor and ensure the safe storage, labeling, and expiration tracking of all medications in compliance with QMAP regulations and healthcare standards.

Professional Development and Training:

  • Eligible for $1000 CEU funds in their first year of employment (*Please note CE Funds are to be paid back if the employee leaves the company within a year of use).
  • Annual Trauma Informed Care and Cultural Sensitivity
  • Annual Sexual Harassment Training
  • FEMA, HIPAA and MANE Training.
  • May be assigned to other professional development and training as needed.

Physical Requirements of the Job:

  • Able to do the following for extended periods of time:
    1. Sit
    2. kneel on floor
    3. Stand
    4. Walk
    5. Run
  • Able to physically manage teenagers/young adults, provide physical guidance, physical prompts, and bending.
  • Able to do frequent bending to accommodate and assist clients.
  • Able to lift 20+ Pounds.
