BYU-Pathway is seeking a proactive and globally minded Technology Operations Manager to lead technical operations across BYU-Pathway’s Global Education Centers (GECs). This pivotal role will oversee the implementation and ongoing management of standardized technology systems and processes; ensuring consistent, high-quality support for educational operations across all centers.

What is a GEC?

BYU-Pathway Global Education Centers (GECs) provide hundreds of students access workspaces, computers, and internet to take classes, to gain vocational skills, to work, and to socialize with other students. All GECs are currently located in Africa and the Philippines. These centers support students in their educational journey by offering resources and a community environment to help them excel.

Important

Full-time (40+ hours/week) with availability between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. This is a hybrid position with requirement to work in Salt Lake City at least once per week.

Responsibilities

  • Training & Mentorship: Train and support GEC Technology Coordinators (TCs) in all aspects of GEC technology operations, including hardware setup, software deployment, and troubleshooting
  • Standards & Execution: Develop, refine, and enforce technology standards across all GECs. Lead the technical setup and launch of new centers to ensure full compliance with organizational standards
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee daily technology operations at GECs, working closely with TCs to resolve issues efficiently and improve overall system performance
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Host regular meetings with TCs to share lessons learned, surface challenges, and disseminate best practices across the global network
  • Project Management: Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to manage technology-related projects, deployments, and upgrades
  • Budget: Oversee GEC technology hardware and software budgets

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or similar

  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, technology training, or systems administration
  • Ability to provide highly available business-class internet service
  • Ability to deploy and manage Windows and Chrome computers
  • Experience working across multiple remote locations or international teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed team

     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in educational technology environments 
  • Experience working in or supporting operations in Africa or the Philippines
  • Understanding of African and Filipino cultures
  • French and/or Portuguese language proficiency
  • Experience with Faronics and Skedda software solutions
  • Experience managing relationships with technology vendors
