Rate of Pay: $27/hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Program Assistant, DSP (PA) is to coordinate directly with the Designated Coordinator and act as an assistant manager to the site. Successful candidates for the Program Assistant position will have 1+ years of experience working with individuals with various abilities and intellectual needs. A high level of reliability and a sense of responsibility is essential. Experienced Program Assistants are eligible for future openings for a Designated Coordinator.
We are looking for a Program Assistant to work in a group home setting 1:1 with a young male individual with Autism and OCD. This individual has limited ability to communicate verbally but uses a few words and facial expressions. Physically active- likes to keep moving.
This individual has extraordinary needs and requires exceptional staff. He requires staff that are flexible but able to create structure for the day. Staff need to have extensive experience working with individuals with autism and must also be physically active and able to keep up with the individual.
Operations
- As assigned, train staff in all program and person-related activities/needs.
- Brainstorm topics for monthly staff meetings and assist in running meetings as requested.
- Manage health care appointments; scheduling, updating scheduler, updating DC of appointments, and post appointment information.
- Oversee medication management onsite: (re)ordering medications, SOMs, maintaining backup medication book updates and checks, check in medications when delivered.
- Create and maintain an activity plan with person(s) and other in-house staff.
- Create and update weekly meal planning in coordination of the person(s) food budget and within dietary needs with the person(s).
- Create housekeeping and home maintenance plan with person(s) and then coordinate efforts with all site employees to perform; basic house cleaning schedule, laundry, and purchasing of groceries and household supplies.
- Assist with semi-annual/annual meeting prep: My Life Packet update, discussing new goals and methods with person(s) and DC.
- Attend annual meetings as requested by DC.
- Flexible with schedule to fill in for meetings, appointments, and gaps in staffing support.
- Financial management of individual(s) funds and house funds.
- Keep supervisor informed of site, service-related issues, and emergency occurrences.
- Give proper notice and follow the reporting chain of command when unable to report to a work shift.

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associates or Bachelors Degree strongly preferred
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- 2 years of experience working with Autism and challenging behaviors
- Experience de escalating individuals who are prone to property destruction and physical and verbal aggression
- Ability to read, write and speak English at a level that meets the performance requirements; or must be able to communicate in the language spoken by the individual at a level that meets the performance requirements; whichever is deemed more important by the company.
- Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Ability to meet licensing requirements of the state and county
- Ability to effectively use a computer/tablet, calculator, household appliances, smoke alarms, etc. with training
