East Lawn is looking for a meticulous Administrative Assistant to coordinate the transport and care of decedents with dignity and professionalism.

About the Role:

This position plays a critical role in coordinating the logistics and communication between our removal team, Care Center, Prep Room, and Crematory. You will serve as the operational hub of East Lawn’s decedent care team, ensuring that every step—from the moment of removal to final disposition—is executed with precision, compassion, and regulatory compliance.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires exceptional organizational skills, emotional resilience, and comfort working in proximity to embalming processes, bodily fluids, and human remains.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and dispatch the removal/transport team to bring decedents into our care.
   
• Ensure proper identification, documentation, and secure handling of all remains and personal belongings.
   
• Accurately complete and verify required documentation and maintain compliance with all regulations.
   
• Communicate clearly and consistently with internal teams, including the Care Center Manager, Prep Room Supervisor, and Crematory Operator.
   
• Use SRS software to manage case data, updates, and decedent tracking.
   
• Receive, inspect, and document all casket deliveries; reject any that do not meet company standards.
   
• Assist with placing caskets into transport vehicles and oversee timely delivery to crematory or other designated locations.
   
• Monitor and maintain office and care center inventory, including supplies, equipment, and vehicle maintenance records.
   
• Ensure all office and back-of-house workspaces are clean, orderly, and OSHA-compliant.
   
• Handle sensitive situations with discretion, professionalism, and care.
   

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Extreme attention to detail and an ability to follow detailed processes with little room for error.  
• Comfort working in and around human remains, bodily fluids, caskets, and embalming processes (protective gear provided).  
• Previous experience in dispatch, logistics, administrative coordination, or funeral service operations is a plus. 
• Strong communication and computer skills; proficiency with case management systems (SRS preferred).  
• Ability to work independently while staying aligned with team operations and deadlines.  
• High emotional maturity, respect for the deceased, and compassion for the grieving.

General:

· Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Must maintain a neat and clean appearance, adhering to the East Lawn Dress Code. 

· Ability to follow through to complete tasks assigned by management with a sense of urgency.

· Ability to work without direct supervision.

· Ability to anticipate needs to serve internal and external customers. 

· Available to work any day of the week, any time of the day, up to 8-hour shifts, minimal overtime.

Education/Experience

· High School Diploma

· Associates degree preferred

· On-the-job training.

Math Ability

· Basic mathematics to solve problems.

Computer Skills

· Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures such as managing files and records, office procedures and terminology.

· Mobile app management.

· Web browser software.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
