About the Department
Are you a creative strategist with a passion for the arts and entertainment? The City of Hampton is looking for an innovative Marketing Manager to lead dynamic marketing efforts for the Hampton Coliseum, The American Theatre, and The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center.
This role is ideal for a driven professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, excels in cross-platform promotions, and is ready to lead digital, print, and grassroots marketing strategies that generate ticket sales and elevate community engagement.
Typical Task:
- Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns for events, classes, and programs.
- Manage media buys, advertising budgets, sponsorships, and promotions.
- Oversee digital presence, including social media, email campaigns, and websites.
- Supervise marketing staff, providing mentorship and performance feedback.
- Build community connections and foster brand consistency across venues.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations, or a closely related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in marketing and/or public relations.
- Marketing for public assembly facilities hosting a wide range of entertainment events is preferred.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Experience implementing modern management methods by incorporating long-range planning techniques and exhibiting leadership skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check before any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
- Experience in negotiating media buys, media placements, and preparing documents for invoicing and settlement.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, databases, presentations, and Adobe Photoshop.
- Knowledge of a variety of social media platforms and use of these platforms in a professional environment is required.
- Knowledge of website content management software.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergencies or at the direction of the City Manager, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
