About the Department

Volunteer opportunities are currently available in our Athletics Department for volunteer coaches and game-day management personnel.  

Position Duties

Volunteer positions are unpaid and the volunteer acknowledges that they do not expect remuneration or a paid position in the future or any other tangible benefit in return for their volunteer service.

Volunteers must complete required training courses in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Sexual Harassment, Title IX, and Hazing Prevention.

Pursuant to RCW 28B.112.080, applicants must declare whether they are the subject of any substantiated findings of sexual misconduct in any current or former employment or are currently being investigated for, or have left a position during an investigation into, a violation of any sexual misconduct policy at the applicant’s current or past employers. By law, post-secondary education institutions cannot hire an applicant who does not complete the questions.    

Prior to employment, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.  Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform the position.  

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS OF BBCC VOLUNTEERS:

1. 18 years of age or older
2. High School Graduation or Equivalent

This position is open until filled.  Big Bend Community College accepts applications for volunteer positions in athletics on an ongoing basis, though it does not necessarily imply that there are immediate volunteer openings.  Applicants who meet the minimum required qualifications and submit a complete application with all  required components will become part of a standing pool which the college will draw on as department/scheduling needs dictate.  Big Bend Community College reserves the right to offer this volunteer position to a qualified candidate at any time, so a prompt response is encouraged.
