Job Summary:
The Insurance Manager oversees, implements and manages the Company suite of insurance programs in order to control risks and losses of ITOCHU group companies in the North American region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Partners with internal corporate departments, trading divisions, ITOCHU group companies’ insurance managers, and ITOCHU Corporation in Tokyo to implement the insurance and risk management of ITOCHU group companies in the North American region.
• Handles operation, maintenance, negotiations and renewals of the Company’s insurance programs. Selects insurance carriers and implements policies.
• Allocates the program premiums to each respective insured group under the Company’s insurance programs. Allocates and reports invoices/credits to/from insurance brokers and each respective group.
• Identifies insurable risks/gaps in coverage and develops cost effective strategies to mitigate.
• Participate as insurance expert in internal teams including those related to due diligence/future strategy in M&A projects and those linked to commercial contract discussions with customers.
• Communicates effectively in an organized and knowledgeable manner in written and verbal formats to senior audiences.
• Works in conjunction with the Company’s Legal & Compliance Division to handle claims reporting, as required.
• Reviews new projects, leases, and contracts to protect the Company’s interests on matters relating to insurance and risk management.
• Gathers insurance policy summaries from ITOCHU group companies in order to manage the database and update, as required.
• Provides ITOCHU group companies insured under the Company’s insurance programs with up-to-date certificates of insurance and coverage information, as required.
• Monitor changes in insurance markets and relevant legislation/regulations to ensure the Company’s insurance programs remain compliant and cost-effective.
• Provide training, education, or guidance to III group companies on insurance best practices and risk awareness.
• Build and maintain appropriate relationships with insurance brokers and carriers to maximize the value of insurance programs.
• Provides assistance in anything that relates to insurance matters, as required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
• Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with a proven record of success directing efforts in the Insurance Industry (Property & Casualty, Brokerage, Reinsurance, In-house Risk Manager, etc.)
• 8-10 years’ experience in a risk management, insurance, or brokerage environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong team player with the ability to work successfully with all levels of the organization
• Strong numerical skills
