About the Department
The East Hartford Probate Court is seeking applicants for the position of Court Assistant Clerk. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with work hours from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including an unpaid half-hour lunch break. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and processing probate petitions, with a primary focus on decedent estates and trusts.

Position Duties
- Review and process probate petitions, focusing on decedent estates and trusts.
- Respond to inquiries from the public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide assistance to attorneys and parties regarding procedural matters.
- Review and process petitions and other filings, including estate tax returns and fiduciary accountings.
- Manage and monitor court files.
- Collect, scan, store, retrieve, and destroy official court records.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures is a plus.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Other Qualifications
Substitutions allowed: College training may be substituted for the general experience on the basis of 15 semester hours equaling one-half 91/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a bachelor's degree.
A master's degree or law degree may be substituted for one (1) additional year of general experience.
