Planning Engineer I will apply engineering principles to the development/revision |
of a Comprehensive Master Plan, forecast, plan, and prepare capital expenditure budgets; design improvements, additions, and relocation for existing utilities systems: and provide support/technical assistance as required, depending on area of work concentration. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Analyze electric, gas, or water systems and develop a comprehensive plan for future expansions, improvements and revisions based on the area of work focus. Plan, forecast, and prepare manpower and fiscal requirements for annual and five-year capital expenditure budget line items. Conduct research and provide cost justification for major additions or improvements to existing systems; recommend route or location, installation methods, and materials for system modifications. Perform various studies to determine load, demand efficiency, and conditions of the current systems. Develop and maintain data for system computer models, including billing and land use data for load projections. Provide technical advice and assistance related to electric, gas, and water systems to Division personnel and other requesting parties. Coordinate work across departmental areas, other utilities, and government agencies. Attend monthly coordination meetings to gather information and discuss changes or improvements to the Master Plan. Prepare sketches of proposed work, maintain records of system equipment ratings, and publish the revised Master Plan annually. Keep up to date with new methods and equipment, as well as the latest developments in electric, gas, or water systems, through trade publications, conferences, and seminars. Perform special projects as assigned. Perform other duties as directed. |

Bachelor’s degree in civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, depending on expertise required. |
