Position Overview

The Research and Knowledge Analyst is a pivotal member of our law firm’s Research Services Department. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive research training program for attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. The Analyst will also contribute to the long-term vision for integrating Generative AI solutions into research workflows, ensuring our team remains at the forefront of technological advancements in legal research.


This position reports to the Director of Research Services & Knowledge Management. This is an in-office position in either New Orleans or Baton Rouge.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Deliver Research Training: Create, update, and facilitate a structured curriculum covering essential research skills for attorneys, paralegals, and support personnel. Training will encompass the effective use of online court docket services, eFiling, and eRecording platforms.
  • Training Program Administration: Schedule regular in-person and virtual training sessions. Track attendance, gather feedback, evaluate program effectiveness, and adjust content as necessary to meet evolving firm needs.
  • Research Support: Provide on-demand research assistance, addressing complex legal and business research requests using a variety of online databases and court services.
  • Develop Training Materials: Author clear and practical user guides, quick reference sheets, and video tutorials tailored to all levels of proficiency.
  • Monitor Technology Trends: Stay abreast of new developments in online court docketing, eFiling, eRecording, and Generative AI relevant to legal research. Evaluate emerging tools for potential firm adoption.
  • Integrate Gen AI in Research Services: Collaborate with the knowledge management and IT teams to develop a long-term plan for the integration of Generative AI technologies into legal research workflows, including the design and delivery of Gen AI-focused training for new attorneys.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner closely with attorneys, paralegals, and internal teams to assess training needs and drive adoption of best practices and new technologies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback, monitor outcomes, and recommend enhancements to training and research processes for greater efficiency and value.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master of Library Science, Juris Doctor, or related advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in legal research or law firm knowledge management.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training programs to professional audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency with online court docket services, eFiling, and eRecording systems.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools, trends, and their application in legal environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to audiences with varying levels of proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous learning.
  • Experience with Lexis+ AI, Checkpoint, Bloomberg Law, and other research services and with Copilot, SharePoint, and other AI tools a plus.
