Under the general supervision of the Manager of Respiratory, the Respiratory Therapist will provide high quality respiratory care to all patient populations. The RRT will examine patients for breathing related conditions, conduct diagnostic testing and consult with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan. RRT will have knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures. Requires knowledge of Federal and State regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations. Regular and predictable attendance required. Responsible for assigned duties which promote safety and well-being of all patients within the hospital. Facilitates optimal patient appropriate resource utilization. Builds and maintains strategic relationships. Participates and contributes to high performing care delivery teams.
The incumbent will carry-out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of Three Crosses Regional Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Ensures delivery of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
- Reviews and Revises plan of patient care as needed.
- Cognitive and technical knowledge and ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care.
- The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing is required.
- Restores patient’s pulmonary function, alleviates pain, and supports life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapies.
- Helps patients accomplish treatment plans and supports life by administering inhalation therapies, chest physiotherapies, and other lung expansion therapies operating mechanical ventilators, for all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
- Administering respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with breathing exercises, and monitoring physiological response to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, etc.
- Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient’s progress along with recommending adjustments and modifications.
- Able to perform other cardiopulmonary services such as: EKG’s and Bronchoscopy.
- Documents patient care services by charting patient and department records.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with policy, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Attend staff meetings as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Required: Associate degree in respiratory therapy
- Required: Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program approved by the NBRC
- Required: Meet all Employee Health Requirement Required: Respiratory Care Practitioner License issued by the State of NM
- Required: NBRC (RRT) Credential (National Board of Respiratory Care) must have upon hire
- Required: BLS Certification
- Required: ACLS Certification
- Preferred: PALS Certification
- Preferred: Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
