Position Summary

Retail Branches

The Branch Manager is responsible for leading a team that is focused on delivering an exceptional Member experience. Activities include leading and directing the daily activities of the branch, including the delivery of credit union products and services. Responsible for developing and maintaining Member relationships. Responsible for the delivery of achievement of growth goals, operational efficiencies, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, and developing a high performing team. Creates an environment of trust by “doing what’s right.” 

 

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for the growth activity of the branch by meeting or exceeding growth goals as established by the Market President (i.e., consumer, business, Wealth Management, or all depending on market opportunity); expectation of daily/weekly growth activities to take place. 
  • Track, analyze, and report progress towards branch performance targets. Meet and/or exceed branch targets for loan production, referrals, deposit growth, Member experience and new account growth.
  • Establish a high-performance culture through establishment clear expectations and performance management. Prioritizes team development by coaching and mentoring. 
  • Implement sales and promotional programs with creativity and energy such that goals are achieved and quality standards are met or exceeded.
  • Lead a professional and friendly environment that delivers an exceptional Member experience to Valley Strong Credit Union members.
  • Ensure operational efficiency, compliance and quality standards are met. 
  • Actively work with internal and external business partners to meet assigned goals and Member expectations in all aspects of business development and community development.
  • Report business development activities in a timely manner, including new Member growth, penetration, and profitability, in order to fulfill and support the business development objectives and strategic initiatives of Valley Strong through its Market Strategy Plan.
  • Receive and respond to inquiries and complaints, resolving both Team Member and Member issues whenever possible.
  • Manage the selection, placement, performance, development, promotion, and terminations of branch team. 
  • Partner in community activities to increase Valley Strong Credit Union’s visibility and enhance new and existing business opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent and regular visits, and communication with surrounding schools/occupational groups as outlined by Market Strategy Plan. 
  • Attend and participate in periodic management meetings, various committee meetings, and outside conferences and workshops.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees leadership of branch operations in conjunction with the Assistant Branch Manager including but not limited to, approvals, teller cash counts, certifications, new and closed account reports, CTR filings, suspicious activity reporting, elder abuse reporting, and staff adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a significant lobby presence focusing on Member relations and Team Member development.
  • Ensures service levels at the branch through Member feedback, surveys, and on-the-spot coaching opportunities.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries and complaints, resolving both Team Member and
  • Member problems whenever possible.
  • Performs scheduled monthly coaching sessions as well as organic coaching sessions.
  • Conducts periodic meetings for branch Team Members to inform them of policy and
  • procedures changes and developments, and to provide a communication base for
  • problems, discussions, ideas, etc.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the credit union's policies, and in the spirit of Valley Strong’s mission and values.

Progressively responsible management experience within retail or financial institution.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Members and other Team Members at the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute dividends and interest.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Must comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws and regulations, as they pertain to federal guidelines and internal policies and procedures.
