The Dental Clinic Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dental clinic to ensure efficient, high-quality, and compliant dental services. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Dental Director and clinical team, managing staff, coordinating patient flow, and ensuring adherence to HRSA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements applicable to FQHCs. The Dental Clinic Manager works collaboratively with medical, behavioral health, and administrative leadership to promote integrated care and support patient access.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinic Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure smooth daily operations of the dental clinic, including scheduling, patient flow, and coordination with front desk and billing teams.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, CDC infection control standards, HIPAA, HRSA guidelines, and FQHC operational protocols.
  • Assist with UDS data collection and reporting, including dental productivity and quality metrics.
  • Ensure all dental equipment and supplies are maintained, ordered, and inventoried appropriately.
  • Staff Supervision & Development
  • Supervise dental support staff (dental assistants, front office staff, sterilization technicians, etc.).
  • Coordinate staff schedules, manage time-off requests, and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training dental support staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective actions as needed.

Quality Improvement & Patient Experience

  • Monitor and support patient satisfaction efforts within the dental clinic.
  • Assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives, including workflow efficiency and clinical integration.
  • Coordinate with the Dental Director and QI team to ensure adherence to clinical protocols and best practices.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Collaborate with the billing team to ensure timely and accurate documentation, coding, and billing.
  • Support grant and programmatic dental initiatives including mobile dental units, school-based programs, or migrant dental services, as applicable.
  • Track productivity, performance benchmarks, and help develop improvement strategies.
  • Work with leadership on budget planning and cost control related to dental operations.

Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and coordinate with medical, behavioral health, and pharmacy teams to support integrated patient care.
  • Act as a liaison between the dental department and other departments within Utah Partners for Health. 

Requirements

Required:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting, preferably dental.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  •  Knowledge of FQHC operations, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Bilingual required (English/Spanish).


Preferred:

  • Experience in a dental clinic setting.
  • Familiarity with dental EHR systems (e.g., Curve, ECW).
  • Understanding of UDS reporting, sliding fee scale implementation, and public health principles.
