About the Department


Assists the Quality Control Manager in the administration of the Development Services Department by updating and maintaining the Department’s online processing and tracking systems. 

With guidance from the QCM, may confer with and provide training to the Building, Planning & Zoning, and Code Enforcement division heads, staff, architects, and engineers regarding compliance with protocols and procedures as established by management.

Employees in this position are responsible for working directly with the public explaining departmental procedures and providing general guidance to ensure that the entire process is completed in accordance with policies and procedures.

The incumbent assists the QCM with maintaining policies, standard operation procedures, strategies, project goals, and milestones for large and highly complex permit technology & enterprise software, systems, and their applications, liaising with Innovation & Technology staff as needed for additional support.

Position Duties


The following duties are normal for this position.  The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.  

The employee must work within general methods and procedures to adapt and apply Department guidelines to specific situations.

Analyzes the nature and cause of processing errors using logical thinking to identify areas needing improvement in the Department’s processes.

Serves as liaison with staff and management concerning error trends and problem areas, working with the QCM for solutions and implementation.

Remains informed of cutting-edge technologies and advancements in municipal building programs.

Coordinates project tasks with IT division as directed by the QCM. 

Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work, including phone call, walk-in, fleet vehicle GPS’s, and other related reporting based on available data.

Analyzes the efficiency of all computer systems and proposes enhancements. 

By coordinating with IT, provides hardware and software maintenance and support for systems, databases and applications. Provides hardware and software support and troubleshooting for Department personnel.  When necessary, meets with software vendor representatives and Information Technology Team members as directed by the QCM to resolve issues with hardware and software.

Assists the QCM with maintaining and updating the software Training Manual and assists with ensuring staff abides with all therein by identifying staff development and training needs and ensuring training is provided or obtained.

Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Public Administration, or related field preferred.

3 Years of Experience in Building Department Administration or Permitting

3 Years of Experience in Permit Tracking Software’s combined with IT work experience

Or

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.
 
Valid Florida Driver's License.
