Shipping & Receiving Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that products are ready for shipment, loaded in a safe and efficient manner and received by the customers on time. The team member will verify the counts of items being shipped and received to ensure that all paperwork relating to shipping and receiving is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Balance Safety, Quality, Production, Cost and Morale to achieve positive results across departments.
- Continuously learn, share, and implement corrections or changes to encourage organizational improvements for the department and company.
- Use the 5S Pillars, Sort (Seiri), Set in Order (Seiton), Shine (Seiso), Standardize (Seiketsu), and Sustain (Shitsuke) to maintain a clean and organized workspace to sustain a productive and safe work environment.
- Coordinate and manage projects that require input and cooperation from multiple departments ensuring that clear and consistent communication between departments streamline processes and enhance productivity.
- Follow all protocols and documentation or processes of the Shipping/Receiving Department
- Engages with vendors, drivers, and colleagues with a positive attitude. The expectation is to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Shipping:
- Maintain shipping records for requested categories including goods returned, dunnage, and returnable pallets.
- Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments.
Receiving:
- Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items delivered; checks against suppliers’ count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers, supervisor, and purchasing officer per company policy.
- All received items are delivered to the appropriate departments by end of shift.
- Log Management – Receiving logs, placement of logs, relocating logs (outside/inside) to support the production department while maintaining FIFO standards.
Inventory:
- Maintain a high degree of quality and fidelity regarding entry of data into inventory management program(s) or documents, and transfer of data to other inventory tracking media such as asset tags or bin labels.
- Responsible for physical inventory of Logs, monthly.
Material Handling:
- Maintain Forklift checkoff sheets daily.
- Load and unload delivery trucks, either by hand or using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
- Keep Scrap Hoppers to less than 50% full, daily, to keep Production in empty for use.
- Transport scrap to supplier (Offsite) with the use of the company truck.
- Clean out quality approved finished goods from Dye Pen, daily.
- Maintain FIFO standards for Finished Goods.
Requirements
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, use hands to manipulate, handle and feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must be able to speak and hear and must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to auto focus.
- The team member will often enter the non-climate-controlled plant or warehouse where temperatures can be extremely hot or cold depending on the weather.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education / Work Experience
Listed below are the minimum and/or desired qualifications of the position including education, work experience and knowledge & skills that are required to perform satisfactorily in the position:
- CDL preferred
- One or more years of relevant warehouse distribution experience
- Basic computer knowledge, specifically with Microsoft applications.
- Experienced in working with ERP systems, PLEX Preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other employees, drivers, etc.
- Good math competence.
- Excellent organization skills, clerical and working operation with all aspects of freight, packaging and logistics.
- Familiarity with reading and completing shipping documents.
