JOB TITLE: PART-TIME BUS DRIVER/TRANSPORATION SCHEDULER

LOCATION: GATEWAY COLLEGE PREP SCHOOL, GEORGETOWN TEXAS COMPETENCIES: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver License with S Endorsement (CDL-S) and a Texas school bus driver certification.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Operate a large passenger motor vehicle transporting students and other passengers to destinations inside and outside the school district. In addition, serve as a Transportation Scheduler for approximately 2 hours daily, assisting with logistical coordination, documentation, and communication between drivers, campuses, and district administration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
BUS DRIVER DUTIES:
- Operate a gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicle to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities
- Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
- Observe safety rules as students are boarding/exiting buses and crossing streets near bus stops
- Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled locations following strict time schedules
- Read maps and follow written/verbal geographic directions
- Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort
- Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs
- Report delays, accidents, or other transportation situations using telephones or mobile radios
- Inspect tires, brakes, wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure proper working order
- Keep bus interiors clean for passengers
- Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety
- Prepare and submit reports that may include number of passengers, trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel usage, etc.

TRANSPORTATION SCHEDULER DUTIES (APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS/DAY)

Assist with the scheduling and coordination of routes and special trips
- Communicate effectively with campus staff, administration, and drivers to ensure transportation plans are current and accurate
- Track and submit driver documentation (e.g., licensing, certifications, physicals) as required
- Maintain records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and service needs
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to schedule timely repairs and routine servicing
- Support the department in ensuring transportation compliance with state and district policies
- Assist with communication during inclement weather or emergency changes to schedules

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
Transport students and staff to events safely and promptly. Maintain reporting of vehicle maintenance issues and bus cleanliness. Fulfill daily transportation scheduler tasks and communicate effectively with key stakeholders. Follow traffic laws and interact appropriately with students and staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must maintain general physical and emotional health necessary for effective job performance. Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and physical health requirements. Minimum of six (6) years of general driving experience preferred. Potential occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens or other infectious materials.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED:
High School diploma or education equivalent to completion of high school.
