POSITION TITLE: GENERAL EDUCATION CLASSROOM
CLASS DEFINITION:
Positions in this class are characterized by their association with direct instruction process for students in the general education classroom. Positions within this class require the ability to work with children in the classroom under the general supervision of the site or service administrator. Within this class, levels are differentiated by the credentials, degree of skills and expertise required to perform successfully within the assignment.
POSITION DEFINITION:
Under general supervision to provide instruction to students within credential authorized service; supervise the classroom and playground activities of students; plan as necessary with other staff members for the effective delivery of instruction for students; maintain records to demonstrate and evaluate students educational/social/emotional progress; and to do related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
• Provide daily instruction to students in authorized and assigned subject areas
• Provide for adequate planning for students’ instructional programs both long and short term
• Provide an orderly, functional and attractive learning environment for students
• Work cooperatively with others in the school to provide for coordinated services for students
• Maintain necessary records to evaluate student learning and periodically report that progress to the parent/student/supervisor
• Maintain regular contact with the parents/guardians about student progress
• Maintain high level of skill and expertise in the subject matters assigned to teacher and in strategies by which to teach those subjects
• Implement district and school policies regarding the instruction of students
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Education and Experience:
Required is a B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited college or university and a teaching credential authorizing service in a general education classroom.,
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of and the ability to apply current teaching techniques in a variety of areas, strong subject matter knowledge, laws and applicable sections of Federal rules and regulations, State Education Code and District and school policies, as well as the Board’s goals and objectives. The abilities to relate in a positive manner with students, to discipline students fairly and firmly, to communicate in an effective manner with parents, students and other professionals, understand and follow both oral and written directions, work within an established schedule, maintain and interpret records, work confidentially, read, interpret and follow regulations, policies and procedures and work cooperatively with others in the school and district setting

Licenses and other Requirements:
Valid child/adult CPR certificate
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
• Visual capability to read handwritten or typed documents and the display screen of various office equipment and machines
• Ability to conduct verbal conversation in English
• Able to hear normal range verbal conversation (approximately 60 decibels)
• Able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, walk
• Able to stand on hard flooring for sustained periods of time
• Able to walk on hard flooring for sustained periods of time
• Able to climb slopes, stairs and ladders
• Able to push and/or pull a variety of tools and equipment
• Able to lift up to 30 pound frequently and 75 pounds occasionally
• Able to push and pull objects weighing up to 200 pounds
• Able to sustain strenuous manual labor for the employee’s normal work day
• Able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder external rotation and internal rotation
• Able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder abduction and adduction
• Able to exhibit full range of motion for back flexion
• Able to exhibit full range of motion for elbow flexion and extension
• Able to exhibit full range of motion for hip flexion and extension
• Able to exhibit full range of motion for knee flexion
• Able to exhibit manual dexterity needed to operate a computer and other classroom and office equipment
• Able to work with cleaning solutions, disinfectant and sanitizers without allergic reaction
SALARY SCHEDULE: Certificated Annual/Monthly
EVALUATED BY: Site or Service Administrator
EVALUATION REVIEWED BY: Superintendent or designee
Requirements / Qualifications
Selection of Teachers:
• Current or past experience in grade level
• Participated in the Core Reading Program or currently enrolled
• Clear Credential Preferred
• Current staff member at school site
• Most recent evaluation has all satisfactory marks
Salary Info
Paid 4.5 hours per week calculated from base salary
