Job Description
Utilizes hand tools, power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Must be able to read and follow job specifications, blueprints and diagrams to perform proper preventive maintenance of manual and automated systems, as well as pressure washing and painting. Must be able to identify alignments issues of cable and sheave systems and perform corrective measures. Perform visual inspections of wire rope systems identifying any deficiencies and performing correctly measures. Utilize proper methods of applying oils and greases to machinery at predetermined intervals to supply lubrication to bearing and mechanical parts.
This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
The St. Cloud Field Station's working hours are Monday - Thursday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Employment Guidelines
Licenses
Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without air brake restriction, or the ability to obtain a CDL Learner's Permit within 2 months and/or CDL License within 6 months from date of hire or placement in the job (Required)
Ability to obtain and maintain certification in Forklift Operations (re-evaluation every year) and First Aid/CPR/AED (re-certification every two years).
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Due to Districts response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes, or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role. Overtime will be required based on weather and/or environmental conditions.
Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests and operates equipment to complete assignments. Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transport equipment weight up to 50 pounds or more.
Primarily field work in general outdoor environment with regular exposure to unpredictable weather conditions: sun, heat, and rain. Work activities typically involve the following (but not limited to): basic water skills, exposure to various water contaminants, hazardous waste products, stinging/biting insects, snakes alligators and herbicides, walking/driving on rough terrain.
