SUMMARY
Lead Accounting Assistant role oversees day-to-day work of individuals in a number of functions across the organization. This role serves as a subject matter expert and mentor to members of the accounting staff while also performing the critical function of processing and maintaining complex financial transactions. It also serves as an important connecting point between the company and our customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, including high-value and multi-layered invoices, account reconciliations, billing disputes, and intercompany transactions.
- Identifying, analyzing and leading the team in resolving transactional issues as they arise.
- Providing adequate training and guidance for team members.
- Coordinating and communicating effectively with internal cross-functional teams at various levels of the organization.
- Communicating with customers/vendors to resolve disputes
- Maintaining compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
- Demonstrating strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to streamline processes to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
- Producing reports to update management on status of accounts
- Assisting management to ensure team performance standards are met
- Cross training in other departmental functions as needed to provide backup.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Preference for five years or more experience in accounting or similar function
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, specifically Word, Outlook, and an emphasis on advanced Excel skills
- Significant knowledge of accounting / ERP systems
- High School diploma or GED required, associate’s degree in finance, accounting or related field preferred.

- Good interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
- Ability to work satisfactorily as a Team Member and communicate with all levels within the company
- Excellent organizational skills

- Adept at problem solving and finding creative solutions
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on a customary and regular basis
- Ability to set, adjust and change daily priorities
- Ability to handle sudden changes in project/priority and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive fashion
- Ability to manage conflict and resolve issues in the most positive fashion for all parties concerned
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and understand complex documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Ability to understand and speak clearly and communicate in English.
