Serve as a higher education advisor to high school students in cooperation with High School Academics. Promote higher education, college readiness, scholarships, and maintain open communication among all YISD stakeholders. Serve as an on-site college and career readiness administrator to assist with implementation of the College and Career Readiness (CCR) Standards. Adhere to federal and state laws as well as, district policies, procedures and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Oversee and promote the campus "Go Center" to include student records, college and scholarship presentations, assist students in college and scholarship applications, facilitate district career programs as well as promote higher education.
- Collaborate with the High School Academics team and campus administrators, counselors, and community members to plan orientations, coordinate instructional nights for parents, to include college and career fairs and House Bill 5 (HB5) nights.
- Promote and assist students and their parents in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in alignment of high school programs of study for higher education.
- Promote and conduct financial aid fairs, college admission workshops, and campus college week.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, institutes of higher education, community members, and campus administration to develop, evaluate and promote college and career readiness initiatives.
- Monitor and report CCR status of learning community students each semester to campus administrators and High School Academics.
- Assist campuses with College and Career Readiness student certification data input, testing, and logistics.
- Develop and maintain a longitudinal database of post-secondary educational funding (PSEF) yearly, and collaborate with the high school counselors to collect award letters from students.
- In collaboration with high school counselors, provide College Readiness graduate information to all levels of students through class presentations, parent meetings, individual conferences, and/or other campus events.
- Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (Go Center Specialist hired before July 1, 2015, employee will be grandfathered; encouraged to obtain a degree, but not required). Knowledge of a college admissions or financial aid office or related areas to prepare students for college, preferred. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and deliver persuasive presentations to individuals and groups. Ability to organize and set priorities to manage workload and complete projects in a timely manner. Ability to work well with others, proficient in software programs, websites, and the internet. Must be able to communicate, listen, read, write, and comprehend the English language sufficiently to use it easily and readily in daily communication.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Maintain emotional control under stress; repetitive hand wrist motions and prolonged use of computer; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Texas/New Mexico driver's license, insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier. Subject to district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation.
