This Opportunity

We are seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team! As an Environmental Technician, you will be instrumental in supporting Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program. Your role will involve a combination hazardous and non-hazardous material disposal and providing exceptional customer service. 

Your Key Responsibilities

• Accept, document, sort, package and arrange for the disposal of household hazardous waste products.
• Welcome customers in a warm and courteous manner and engage with them to understand their needs.
• Install, collect, and deliver environmental air sampling filters from air monitoring stations. Collections occur 365 days of the year, which include holidays and weekends.
• Service sampling equipment, operate and troubleshoot routinely used tools and equipment, rebuild small pump motors, and conduct calibration and air flow checks as required.
• Operate a company vehicle and work independently for up to 6 hours per day.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to work a Tuesday through Saturday work schedule.
• Assists with Emergency Response (ER) activities including determining ER equipment needs, loading ER equipment, and performing clean-up activities.
• Assists with industrial services projects as needed.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Possess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required, Commercial Driver's License Endorsement a plus.
• Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Possess or have access to reliable means of transportation on a 24-hour basis

Preferred Qualifications

• Active OSHA 24-hour HAZWOPER certification and any applicable refreshers

Physical Requirements

• Ability to function in work environments that sometimes include high heat; high humidity; extreme cold; roadway traffic hazards; on water (boat operations) and confined spaces.
• Occasional work wearing a respirator; infrequent work requiring supplied air, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and fully encapsulated protective suits. 
• Adequate vision and hearing to safely see teammates hand signals and hear warning communication in low light. 
• Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers (including reaching, grasping, twisting, pushing, and pulling).
• Walking on uneven surfaces & climbing stairs/ladders.
• Semi-frequent crouching, bending, stooping and twisting, occasionally in tight spaces.
• Sitting in a vehicle for up to three hours straight.
• Working while standing during a 12-hour workday.
• Frequently lifting up to 10 lbs. over an 8-hour period and occasionally up to 50 lbs. over a four-hour period. 
• Occasionally lifting 3-6” diameter hoses that weigh approximately 20 pounds over the head onto hose racks.
• Managing a 55-gallon drum containing approximately 400 pounds of material onto a drum dolly, then moving the drum using the dolly.
