Job description
This position is for armed security at John Day Dam (30 minute drive from The Dalles area, 26 minutes from Goldendale, WA). There are other positions at The Dalles Dam.
Synopsis
Armed Security Guards for this federal contract are primarily responsible to perform security and patrol functions such as securing buildings and property, protecting personnel, equipment and material and controlling access to work locations by employees and visitors. The guard will respond to emergencies, conduct inspections and perimeter checks, access control, and write daily reports.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
Obtain an armed security from Oregon (the company will assist in this)
Must have a copy of his/her High School Diploma/GED/or college transcripts
Must be 21 years old
Be able to pass a government back ground check
Read, write and speak English fluently
Possess a current valid State Driver's License
All candidates must pass the following certification and training standards:
1. Baton/OC/Handcuff (no cost to the applicant)
2. CPR/First Aid/AED (no cost to the applicant)
3. US Army Pistol qualification course (no cost to the applicant)
4. Medical/drug screening (no cost to the applicant)
5. All other DoD Army required training courses (no cost to the applicant)
6. Uniforms/gear/duty weapon is provided at no cost to the guard.
Union:
All guards belong to a union and this ensures fair wages with increased pay raises.
Current pay is $25.88 p/hour ($21.08 plus $4.80 health and welfare).
Starting 1 Jan 2025: pay increases to $26.93 ($22.13 & 4.80)
Overtime is available (pay increases to time and a half)
Education Requirements
High School/GED
Hours per week: 40
- The schedule is set up for all guards to work 3 or 4 days consecutive and then be off for 3-4 days consecutively. This allows for a balanced work-life schedule.
Paid holidays (11 federal holidays per year). You will be paid even if you do not work on a holiday.
Earn vacation (80 hrs) after 1 year.
Earn sick leave from day one (56 hours per year)
