The City of Minot is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Lab Tech in the Public Works Sewer Department with an application deadline of Thursday, August 14th 2025. This position is open to all qualified internal and external applicants.

All applicants will be required to write the civil service exam for this position. The exam will take place on Thursday, August 21st 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Minot Municipal Auditorium, Room 201. A Photo ID will be required for the exam.

Nature of Work

This is responsible technical work performing a variety of laboratory tests on water, sludge, and other substances. Work is performed under the general supervision of a laboratory supervisor. The employee may be expected to give guidance and assistance to less experienced employees or seasonal workers. Please see attached job description for complete details.

Education, Experience, Other Requirements

• Graduation from high school and three years of experience in conducting laboratory tests or closely related work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Possession of a valid state class III water/wastewater treatment operator's certificate.
• Possession of a valid North Dakota commercial driver's license and proper endorsements.

Compensation and Benefits

• The assigned salary range for the position of Public Works Lab Tech under the 2025 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan is a Grade 55, which is $23.71 per hour- $35.20 per hour or $49,321- $73,217 annually. 
• This is a full time, FLSA Non-Exempt position eligible for overtime.
