He/she is responsible for the scheduling of outpatients for testing, treatment or other procedures in an expeditious, friendly and courteous manner.
Responsibilities:- Takes telephone reservations from doctor’s offices, patients and others as appropriate.
- Coordinates appropriate reservation information to other departments through Meditech, e-mail, physician orders, letters, calls, faxes and Audix messages.
- Anticipates scheduling conflicts and problems using good judgment in conflict resolution; is able to edit schedules as requested by area supervisors.
- Responds appropriately to request for information pertaining to reservations.
- Is able to obtain and record pre-cert numbers for any test requiring precertification.
- Cooperatively works with multiple facility modalities and the different requirements for each.
- Knowledge of community-wide centralized scheduling module and is able to schedule, order and edit exams for multiple departments to include radiology, neurology, pulmonary, cardiology, respiratory and nutritional consults.
- Understands procedural charges and scheduled orders. Follows billing practices.
- Uses I Care principles to ensure proper patient identification, correct exam, and to improve patient communication and engagement.

- High school graduate or equivalent with good perception of order and minute details; self-motivated with the ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks.
- Strong communication, detail oriented, critical thinking, problem solving and customer service skills are essential; quick learner, works at fast pace, expeditious, friendly and courteous to staff and physicians.
- Must be efficient in the use of all office equipment, computer and keyboard operations and related material essential to good patient care and reports any problems when necessary.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
