Position Summary

The Roll Hanger supports Drylock’s production lines by safely removing finished rolls from the winder, labeling and staging them for packing, and supplying empty cores and materials to keep the machine running. This entry-level role is the first step on the Roll Hanger career path and is critical to maintaining line efficiency, product quality, and a safe work environment. Level 1 Roll Hangers work under the guidance of Production Leads, Senior Roll Hangers, and Supervisors and are expected to demonstrate Drylock’s core values of Safety, Respect, and Ownership every shift.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Remove finished product rolls from the winder at the prescribed cadence without damaging products.
  • Print and apply roll labels; verify date codes, product codes, and lot information for accuracy.
  • Inspect rolls for obvious defects (loose cores, telescoping, damage) and segregate non-conforming products.
  • Supply empty cores, core plugs, and other consumables to the winder in advance of need.
  • Keep the winder area clean: sweep, remove scrap, and dispose of waste in designated containers.
  • Complete hourly production logs and downtime tags accurately and legibly.
  • Communicate material shortages, equipment issues, or quality concerns to the Machine Operator or Supervisor immediately.

 

  • Assist Packer Operators during changeovers and minor jams as directed.
  • Participate in shift start-up safety talks and daily 5-minute cleaning breaks.
  • Support continuous improvement, 5S, and housekeeping initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet production goals.

 

Education and Experience

Requirement

Minimum Standard

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred (not required).

Experience

Manufacturing experience a plus, but no prior experience required—Drylock will train.

Certifications 

None required at hire; we must complete internal Roll Hanger Basic Training within 30 days.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to learn and follow written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math and reading comprehension for labels, counts, and logs.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for handling product rolls.
  • Alertness to line conditions; able to recognize and react to alarms and machine indicators.
  • Dependable attendance and willingness to work 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule.
  • Team-oriented attitude; respectful communication with coworkers and leadership.
  • Basic computer/data-entry skills (training provided).

 

 

Training Requirements

  • New-Hire Safety Orientation (first day).
  • Roll Hanger Basic Training curriculum (within first 30 days).
  • ISO Quality, Environmental & Product Safety awareness (within 30 days; refresher annually).
  • Lockout/Tagout Awareness and Drylock Core Values training.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, push, or pull up to 35 lb (16 kg) frequently.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and reach continuously for a 12-hour shift.
  • Work in hot or cold conditions (non-climate-controlled plant).
  • Tolerating routine exposure to manufacturing noise (hearing protection provided).

A detailed physical demands sheet will be provided during the offer process.

 

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Hearing protection (mandatory on the production floor).
  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and any other PPE as required for specific tasks.

 

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Fast-paced, high-volume diaper and incontinence product manufacturing lines.
  • 2-2-3 rotating schedule (12-hour shifts; every other weekend off).
  • Overtime or holiday work may be required to meet customer demand.
