Job Summary:
The Workers’ Compensation Coordinator will facilitate patient care and coordinating patient flow and by effectively supporting workers’ compensation patients
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Facilitates and assists with appointment scheduling, cancellations and rescheduled appointments in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines.
- Handles Attorney Correspondence/Medical Records Requests, assists case manager and adjusters in receiving medical records when requested.
- Posts charges to Patient Accounts daily as needed.
- Assists with coordination of care when requested by case managers.
- Responsible for clarifying information and diagnosis by communicating with healthcare providers.
- Assists with charge ticket coding by ensuring the diagnostic and procedural codes are recorded accurately.
- Assists physicians with medical records concerning workers compensation patients through job descriptions, correspondence and surveillance videos.
- Submits necessary information and documentation for insurance authorization and obtains authorizations.
- Advises patients of balances owed to GHSE and collects money.
- Checks charts for the next day’s schedule to ensure all information is current and correct.
- Maintains responsibility for the Clinical Inbox and Workflow Dashboard to ensure tasks are routed correctly and being completed.
- Participates in weekly huddles with administrative staff.
- Maintains files and records as requested.
- Maintains OSHA compliance in coordination with OSHA Compliance Officer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
- Ability to create and present ideas and budgets in a variety of formats.
- Ability to maintain confidential records.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Three years of related experience with medical office administrative experience.
- Knowledge of philosophy, mission, leadership needs, and planning requirements of the organization preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
