Job Title: Donor Engagement Associate

Division: Resource Development, Confidential Employee, *Requires NDA Agreement 

Location: Administrative Office 

Status: In-person; Part-Time, Hourly; Up to 29 hours per Week

Hours: 12:30 – 6:00 p.m. (Flexible based on business need of volunteer events at Clubs)

Annual Salary: $26-$30/hour


JOB SUMMARY:


The Donor Engagement Associate (“Associate”) supports the planning and execution of all donor and volunteer engagement activities for Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica (“SMBGC”). The Associate’s responsibility will center on SMBGC’s strategic plan and strengthening the organization’s capacity to fulfill our vision and mission for kids and teens. 

The Associate implements a comprehensive strategy to increase engagement with our donors (individual and corporate) and strengthen connections to our Clubs and programs. By 2030, SMBGC aims to expand our diverse donor base to over 1,000 supporters.

The Associate will maintain and grow a portfolio of approximately 100 existing and new donor relationships, primarily local and regional corporations. The Associate will also lead the donor acquisition funnel to support the coordination of engagement opportunities and best practices for donor cultivation. 

Finally, the Associate will deliver strong results within a culture that embraces learning and continuous improvement. The Associate will excel in relationship management, project management, event planning, and driving results to achieve success. The Associate will master time management and prioritization while leveraging data to drive planning and project execution. 

This role is accountable for achieving at least $100K of in-kind support, facilitating and hosting over 50 volunteer engagements annually, and coordinating a small group of individual volunteers. The Associate may also support direct fundraising as the role continues to evolve.   

Essential duties are as follows: 


New Revenue, Donor Acquisition, Cultivation & Engagement (80%) 

· Review the analytics and lead lists provided by various sources, including the CEO, Chief of Staff, Major Gift Officer, and/or Marketing & Communications Director, to complete a minimum of 15 cold calls per month, approximately 180 cold calls per year, to build a pipeline for new donors. Complete discovery, qualification, and cultivation per call. 

· Secure 6 monthly donor face-to-face meetings (Club Tours), approximately 72 meetings per year. 

· Coordinate and facilitate the best-in-class Corporate Volunteer Program to create a pathway to engagement for corporate partners.  Hosts approximately 50 volunteer engagements annually.  

· Coordinate and facilitate the best-in-class Individual Volunteer Program to create a pathway to engagement for individual donors. Value quality over quantity and ensure compliance with BGCA safety best practices and processes. 

· Coordinate SMBGC’s Advisory Council (Junior Board) whose primary purpose is volunteerism, engagement, and connecting SMBGC with in-kind resources. 

· Participate in community organizations, promote and create awareness of SMBGC, and identify individuals for involvement with SMBGC.


General Administration, Data Entry & Reporting (20%)

· Update the donor database weekly with specific cultivation actions, solicitations, pledges, and/or volunteer information. 

· Follow up on outstanding pledges to ensure SMBGC secures all revenue. 

· Support CEO and VP of Finance in administering Board Onboarding & Compliance Requirements, Give/Get, and all other assigned Board-related tasks. 

· Administer SMBGC’s stewardship matrix and donor benefits in alignment with the organization's practices.

· Responsively communicate via email, phone, and text messages within 24 business hours. 

· Attend department meetings and cross-functional meetings as scheduled. 

· All other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  

The Associate must possess the following skills:


· Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative working style, and an enthusiasm for building bridges between and among key stakeholders.

· Effective written communication skills are necessary to write and edit letters, memos, reports, discussion documents, proposals, and other solicitation materials. Excellent project management skills. 

· Problem-solving skills, the ability to anticipate challenges and obstacles, and the creativity and tenacity to implement solutions effectively. 

· Strong computer skills with proficiency in standard office productivity software. 

· Practical knowledge of using Excel and fundraising software (i.e., Salesforce) for data analysis.

· Must be able to work in person in the afternoons and early evenings due to our role as an after-school provider. 

· Knowledge of and established personal and/or business relationships within the local community.


The Associate is also required to have the following:


· A bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales, marketing, communications, or a related field. 

· A minimum of 1 year in fundraising or sales experience. Excellent time management and planning skills. 

· A strong commitment to achieving performance outcomes and deliverables. 

· Experience with CRM platforms, preferred experience with Salesforce. 

· A valid driver's license and the ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy is also a requirement. 

· This position is predominantly in-person. However, based on the organization’s needs, the in-person requirements of this role may increase seasonally. The position is expected to flex to meet the business's needs. 

· Accordingly, the ability to use various equipment, including janitorial and office equipment, is required. The job requires standing for extended periods, kneeling, reaching, bending, and lifting objects weighing more than 25 lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion. Reading and writing are necessary to complete reports and properly document programs and organizational data.
