Position: Industrial Crane Technician
Shift: All Shifts

Compensation: Depending on Experience and Site of Placement


Position Summary:

The Industrial Crane Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment in an industrial or manufacturing setting. This role ensures that all crane systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA and industry standards.

  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic crane components.
  • Inspect crane systems for wear, defects, or malfunctions and document findings.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, including motors, brakes, wire ropes, gearboxes, and control systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using CMMS.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new crane systems or upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Work with third-party inspectors or vendors as needed.
  • Follow all plant safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree in industrial maintenance or electrical/mechanical field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in crane maintenance, heavy equipment, or industrial electrical/mechanical repair.
  • Working knowledge of single/three-phase motors, VFDs, control panels, limit switches, and load testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and maintenance manuals.
  • Familiarity with CMMS and basic computer skills.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license: ability to travel to satellite sites if required.
Requirements

 
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments including noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, with availability for overtime, weekends, or on-call rotation as needed.
