Abode, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Clinical Manager to help oversee our Behavioral Health Services in Santa Clara County.
About the role: The Clinical Manager helps assist clients with a severe mental illness and/or dual diagnosis to achieve optimal functioning through social integration by providing supportive services. The Clinical Manager supervises all aspects of the program including supervision of program staff, documentation, and reporting.

How You Make an Impact:
- Provide leadership and supervision necessary to maintain the quality of the programs, by following its policies, procedures, and protocols. Position will report directly to the Director of Health and Wellness.
- Ensure that all members of the services team are meeting the goals as set forth in their program’s respective grants. Supervise up to 4 program staff at any given time.
- Ensure that all staff maintain and secure comprehensive case files and prepare and submit all programmatic reports as required.
- Ensure direct, comprehensive, integrated, and coordinated services to participants.
- Coordinate housing services with internal Abode housing team.
- Facilitate regular case conferencing meetings. Assist in coaching staff and in ongoing educational efforts.
- Assist in developing materials, assessment tools, job descriptions, and other program processes/documents/tools.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Project Independence program.
- Preparation for and attendance at program monitoring meetings as required.
- Coordinate services with participating stakeholders.
- Act as a participant and facilitator of the Next Steps Collaborative provider meetings.
- Attendance at City and County meetings as needed. Present programs publicly to community members.
- Respond to staff assigned to after-hours line when calls come in and staff need assistance.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.
How You Meet the Qualifications:
- MA/MSW in Social Work and Psychology from an accredited university.
- Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as LCSW, LMFT or LPCC required.
- One year of leadership experience
- Three years of experience working with people with moderate to severe mental health needs, people with histories of homelessness, and/or who have a co-occurring disorder.
- Reliable transportation and proof of a valid and current California Driver’s License and current insurance along with a clean DMV record required.
COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with teams.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population with multiple special needs, and be comfortable building successful collaborative relationships with participants, staff, property managers, and with the larger community and county systems while networking and building resources.
- Deep understanding of the following evidence-based practices: Housing First, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Trauma Informed Care.
- Understanding and practice of culturally sensitive components of direct service delivery through open dialogs and self-exploration with diverse groups.
- Experienced in effectively intervening in crisis situations using de-escalation techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, systems, and platforms.
- Ability to learn and use required mobile devices and business-related applications.
- Outstanding communication skills and high degree of emotional intelligence, cultural humility, with a proven track record to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Communicating with others to exchange information; seeing to read a variety of materials.
- Manual dexterity for use of keyboard, tools, controls; repetitive motion that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods, while at a desk or working on a computer.
- Ability to drive and sit in a car for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to move between floors, ascending and descending stairs.
- Light work that may include moving or lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to squat, bend at the waist, crouch, reach overhead and horizontally, and kneel.
WORK CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to work in a shared office environment with moderate to high noise level with frequent contact and interruption.
- Multi-level buildings with stairs and/or ramps.
- Some travel by car throughout the county region and surrounding areas.
